The official synopsis for this atmospheric, enigmatic, and touching short doesn’t make it all that clear: ‘I can feel you in my Belly.’ That’s all you get.
Oh alright, we’ll give you a bit more than that. Director Julia Pott plays with the many associations the word ‘belly’ conjures up in her graduation film, in which two animalistic brothers go to the beach and get swallowed whole by the sea. There’s the underbelly, for one. Or those butterflies that hit your stomach when you feel love. And there’s Jonah of course, ending up in that whale’s belly. The movie won numerous awards since its premiere, among which is the award for Best European Student Film at last year’s Holland Animation Film Festival.
