Totems
- short
- 9'
Where did we get the conceited notion that humans are superior to nature? We live in the illusion of being at the top of the food chain, and therefore get to do whatever we want. In this gorgeous silent short, a moment of inattention leaves a lumberjack stuck under a tree. He needs to tap into his animalistic qualities to survive.
Young Belgian first-time director and screenwriter Paul Jadoul also worked on the animation, combining 3D techniques with classic animation in a raggedy, chalck-like style. Not only did Jadoul direct, write and animate, he also handled the editing and the music, which together shape the subtle rhytmns of the film.
