A surrealist short film about the disconnected relationship between a lonely man and his flat mate: a mini-human in a cage, who has everything his owner lacks.
The pets you find for sale in pet stores are usually there against their will – unfortunately they aren’t able to communicate that. The situation is different for Little Man (played by Simon Helberg from The Big Bang Theory), who was put in a cage after an unfortunate period in his tiny life. The mini-human is purchased by a Big Man (Brett Gelman from Stranger Things), a loner who hopes to brighten up his life with a tiny companion. But power and envy (it turns out his caged mini-mate has led the kind of life he cannot seem to have) prove to be an ugly combination.
End of the Line was based on a surrealist short story by author Aimee Bender and won the Jury’s Choice Award at Sundance. Aside from an original tale, the film is also a celebration of technical and digital skill: large and small exist side by side completely believably.
