When will the 12th edition take place?
The 12th edition of Pluk de Nacht will take place from August 5-15 at Stenen Hoofd in Amsterdam, from August 20-22 at Nieuwe Havenweg 23 in Arnhem and from August 26-29 at Werkspoorkathedraal in Utrecht.
What time does the film start?
As soon as it starts to get dark, around 21.00h, short films will be shown. When the sun has set, the feature film will start. Make sure to be there on time to get a good spot.
What are the opening hours?
In Amsterdam, the bar and the outside seating open every day at 15.00h, the foodstalls open at 16.00h. In Arnhem & Utrecht the bar and foodstalls start serving at 17.00h.
Is there an entrance fee?
Admission is free. If you want to secure a deckchair you can make a donation via our online booking system and we’ll reserve one for you. There’s only a small amount of chairs available online, most of them you find on the terrain.
How can I rent a beach chair?
You can book a seat online, simply by choosing your city, date and prize of choice. Your donation helps making the festival possible! At the festival, you can also rent a blanket. It is really appreciated if you return your beach chair after the movie.
What kind of films may I expect?
All the films at Pluk de Nacht have had great success at big international film festivals, but still never reached Dutch theatres. Pluk de Nacht shows remarkable documentaries, animation, short and feature films that were not released in The Netherlands or, if they were, only reached a small audience. What if it rains?
The show will always go on, so when the rain pours down, the screening continues inside.
Which languages and subtitles are used?
All films are either English spoken or have English subtitles (except for Victoria – mainly English spoken, partly German, Dutch subtitles)
Is there anything to do after the film screening?
In Arnhem and Utrecht every night there’s a party at Klup de Nacht, the festival’s noted night club. In Amsterdam Klup de Nacht only opens on fridays and saturdays.
How can I support Pluk de Nacht?
You can book a seat and make a donation. By buying a drink or snack at the bar, you’ll also help the festival. You can become a friend on Facebook or follow the festival by signing up for the newsletter (Dutch only).
Is there something to eat and drink available?
Yes, Pluk de Nacht will take care of a stuffed bar and tasty bites to fill all hungry tummies.
May I bring my own?
You can, but in limited amounts. Please keep in mind that we can only organize Pluk de Nacht if people buy a drink at our bar. If you do decide to bring your own, please clean up the litter.
Where is Pluk de Nacht located?
In Amsterdam, Pluk de Nacht takes place on a pier called Stenen Hoofd in a former harbour area. The site is easy to reach from Central Station with bus 48 (direction Station Sloterdijk, get out at Barentszplein). Plan your trip. Even easier, is to come by by foot, bike or car. Please note that there are no car parking facilities on the festival ground.
In Arnhem, Pluk de Nacht is also at a harbour site: Nieuwe Havenweg 23. From Central Station, take bus 43 (direction Apeldoorn, get out at Arnhem Haven) or bus 63 (direction Duiven Schapenweide, get out at Arnhem Haven). Plan your trip. The location is also easy to reach by bike or car. Parking facilities are free but limited.
Where can I park my bike?
There are special bike area’s on and around the festival grounds. Please do not park your bike outside of these area’s, block the festival entrances or, in Amsterdam, the entrance of the adjacent police station.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Pluk de Nacht expects nothing else from you than what is common sense. If we all keep an eye on each other, everybody will have a fun night. Safety is most important, so we keep emergency exits free en will not place fires too close to audiences. Also, we would very much appreciate it if you would place your empty beer bottles in the crates, throw garbage in the bins and return your chairs.
