Solar Walk

“An awesome, absurd animation, where things are mostly obscured”, one audience member said in 2014 of Réka Bucsi’s Symphony no. 42. The same definitely applies to her latest works, LOVE and Solar Walk, both of which are screening at Pluk.
Bucsi’s most recent film Solar Walk was originally created as a visual complement to a concert of the same name by the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. Although the version being shown at festivals now is a bit shorter and less dependent on the music, those origins are still recognisable: Solar Walk is closer to a composition than to a classical narrative film. A visual symphony about love in space and becoming one with a new world.
The title is actually a bit modest: this solar walk turns into a cosmic dance, with two tiny space travellers planting their (very Pluk-like) flag here and there and M.C. Escher-like shapes folding in on themselves also making an impossible appearance.
