Soft opens with cellphone images of a bunch of misfits beating on a teenage boy. While the image quality may take a turn for the better, the same can’t be said for the story, when the boy’s dad is attacked by the same group.
It’s one thing to tell your teenage son that he shouldn’t start fights, but he should fight back when he’s attacked. But it’s quite another to actually strike back, this family man finds to his dismay, in Simon Ellis’ disturbing, urgent short. A film like a punch in the gut.
