Here is Harry Merry

An insider view on an outsider musician. A cheerful tale about the perseverance of an extraordinary musician from Rotterdam.
You will find no other musician like Harry Merry in The Netherlands. And even internationally you can only compare him to the other incomparable ones (such as, distantly, Daniel Johnston). This means that a lot of people automatically will not take him seriously. But his extravagant appearance and music are not a pose, nor a provocation, and most definitely not a product of shrewd marketing. Harry Merry is simply Harry Merry. You can tell from the compelling documentary Joke Olthaar made about him, in which Harry performs in small venues around the world, lives with his mother in Rotterdam and delivers mail to make ends meet. But whether people think he’s a genius (I’m a fan) or just noisy, or don’t know what to make of him (like the social services employee in the film), Hier is Harry Merry (Here is Harry Marry) makes one thing perfectly clear: Harry is genuine and sincere.
