“The theme of this animation is circle”, creator Sawako Kabuki writes in her notes accompanying her animation debut Circle. And to say more would be silly: the short of just over a minute speaks for itself.
Kabuki, Pluk de Nacht’s artist in focus this year, made Circle as a student of graphic design at the Tama Art University in her hometown of Tokyo. In this first work she immediately establishes the style, forms and themes she would further develop in the years to come: simple line drawings and a fascination with the (naked) human body.
