A small group of volunteers works on the festival’s organisation year round. Their tasks mainly consist of the screening and selection of ‘Pluk’ films. As Pluk de Nacht works on a non-profit basis and offers tickets free of charge, fundraising is also an indispensable task of theirs. However, your help is needed most from the start of the set up until the tear down of the festival site. The same goes for the Utrecht edition, so you are most welcome to volunteer there as well.
There is something fun to do for everyone. So take a look at the available jobs, pick one (or two or three) and sign up!
Where do I sign up? You’ll find the online form here.
Under construction
Setting up the festival site consists of all sorts of tasks: from painting, decorating, welding and weed plucking to building up, tearing down and hauling around. Whatever the job, your creative contribution is much appreciated.
If style is your talent, then please join our Decorating Team. You can pitch your most fantastical and outrageous ideas during one or two preparatory brainstorm sessions, which will be held before the actual set up period starts. The best ideas will be used in the festival’s decorating schemes.
From August 9 onwards Het Stenen Hoofd will transform into a gorgeous Open Air Film Festival. So help us make that happen.
Quench thirst
Our friendly bar staff greatly contributes to the festival’s open and hospitable atmosphere. We run two bars during film nights, where we offer a variety of moderately priced beverages to quench the thirst of festivalgoers. So if you are of the barfly category, report for bar duty now! Experience is a plus, but no prerequisite.
There are two bar shifts every festival day: one team covers the afternoon and the other the evening shift.
Keep them warm and comfy
To spend a warm, comfy night in the open air, blankets and deck chairs are made available for festivalgoers. This system works via an online reservation & donation system. We are looking for volunteers with excellent coordinating skills to distribute chairs and blankets in an orderly fashion and keep visitors from getting chilly.
Every festival day a few people are required to oversee blankets and chairs.
Jack-of-all-trades
Can’t decide which job to sign up for and do you possess multiple talents? Just register as an all-round volunteer: you’ll help line up chairs, light candles, act as steward and keep the festival site neat.
We need all-round volunteers to make things run smoothly during every festival night.
First aid
Accidents hardly ever happen (knock on wood!) but just in case they do, it’s essential to be able to rely on a crew of skilled first-aiders. If you have a first aid certificate (EHBO or BHV) and you remain cool, calm and collected in case of emergency, please come and help us out for a couple of nights (or more) The first aid station also happens to be the best seat in the house when the movie starts!.
We need at least one first-aider (BHV or EHBO certificate) during every festival night.
Daily Pluk reporters and photographers
During the festival the Daily Pluk keeps everybody up to date about the latest news and everything that’s going on. If your interviews with the festival goers or your beautiful pictures will definitely catch the typical Pluk atmosphere, you should sign up.
Every day of the festival we need one or two reporters and a photographer.
Feed our volunteers
The 10 to 25 hungry volunteers who help set up and tear down the festival site rely on enthusiastic (home)cooks to keep up their strength in the period just before, during and after Pluk de Nacht takes place. Members of our Kitchen Crew cook meals in their own kitchen at home and bring them over to Het Stenen Hoofd. So if cooking is your hobby and/or trade, if you have a well equipped kitchen at your disposal and preferably have means of transport to deliver meals, please join our Kitchen Crew. There is a small budget available of circa € 3 per volunteer per day. Your cooking skills will be much appreciated. You can count on that!
We are looking for (home)cooks who are able to prepare tasty meals on a low budget and deliver them on site between August 9 and 30.
Runners
Pluk de Nacht does not materialise out of thin air. Bits and pieces from all over Amsterdam and beyond are used to build up the festival site. We need people to act as couriers and run things over to the festival site. If you have a driver’s licence and preferably own your own car or delivery van (or can borrow one) you’ll make for a perfect runner!
We need energetic couriers from between August 9 and 16.
All good things must end…
Even Pluk de Nacht. Be part of our Tear Down Crew to help wrap up and clean up. Your hard work will be rewarded!
Tearing down starts on August 27 and finishes August 30.
Your reward?!
Every team member of Pluk de Nacht works on a voluntary basis. Our team is young, enthusiastic and ambitious. Our work environment is dynamic. As a member of our team, you are encouraged to take initiative and there is lots of room for your input and ideas.
As the festival is free of charge for all visitors, we cannot offer you tickets. You do however earn the eternal gratitude of festivalgoers; you are provided with the official festival T-shirt, tasty meals and cheap beers and – most importantly – you do work that’s great fun! And of course there’s a big volunteer party at the end of the festival held in your honour.
Yes, I want to work for this wonderful festival!
